Participation Paths
Three ways to engage with the network
Whether you are a vendor, a market organizer, or someone who wants to become a promoter, there is a clear path to getting involved.
For Vendors
If you sell at a tianguis or street market
1
Wait for a promoter visit, or contact us directly
SSATANI promoters visit assigned markets on a regular schedule. If a promoter has not yet come to your market, you can contact us directly to request a visit or ask a question.
2
Have an initial conversation
The first meeting is simply a conversation. No commitment required. The promoter explains what the program covers and answers any questions you have about banking, terminals, or receipts.
3
Choose which topics interest you
You don't have to engage with all four modules. If you're only interested in understanding how to open a bank account, that's fine. If you want to focus on POS terminals first, that's equally valid.
4
Follow up as questions arise
After the initial session, the promoter returns to your stall on subsequent market days. Real questions come up once you start applying what you've learned, and that follow-up is part of the program.
For Market Organizers
If you coordinate a tianguis or market association
1
Reach out to schedule a coordination meeting
We meet with market coordinators to understand the market's schedule, layout, and the specific concerns of vendors in that location. This helps us assign the right promoter for regular visits.
2
Arrange access for the promoter
Promoters need to be recognized as trusted visitors by vendors. An introduction from the market organizer, or permission to display a small identification sign, significantly helps build that initial trust.
3
Optionally host a group session
If your association has a meeting space, we can organize a brief group introduction. Group sessions are informal and take approximately 45 minutes. Individual follow-up happens at the stall afterward.
For Prospective Promoters
If you want to become a financial inclusion promoter
1
Contact SSATANI to express interest
We look for people who are already connected to informal market communities and who communicate clearly and respectfully. Formal financial qualifications are not required.
2
Complete the promoter training program
Promoter training covers all four educational modules in depth, plus specific guidance on how to conduct field visits, manage sensitive conversations about money, and know the limits of the promoter role.
3
Begin accompanied field visits
New promoters begin with accompanied visits alongside an experienced promoter. This is where the practical side of the work becomes clear: how to approach vendors, when to step back, and how to handle follow-up questions.
What to Expect
Participation is always voluntary
Nothing about engaging with SSATANI creates any obligation for vendors, organizers, or promoters. There are no contracts. No fees. No product purchases required or recommended.
The program exists to share information. What people do with that information is entirely their own decision.
If you have questions before deciding whether to get involved, the contact page is the right place to start. We're happy to answer questions by phone or email without any further expectation.
